Colours of Malaysia
Regional Travel

In this fascinating tropical paradise you will experience not one, but a diversity of Asian cultures in one single destination;a phenomenon we take pride in. From the people, to food, sights and sounds, Malaysia is a unique melting pot in Asia.

Here you will discover a delightful fusion of three of Asia's oldest civilisations. A geo-cultural mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian heritage that are made even more interesting by the assimilation of other cultures into the fabric of our society. Indigenous cultures of the Kadazans, Ibans and ethnic groups of Sabah and Sarawak as well as the influence of the British, Portuguese, Dutch and Thais enhance the blending of customs and traditions.

Colourful festivals and carnivals are very much part and parcel of the Malaysian lifestyle. Distinctly unique, each culture continues to preserve traditions handed down through the generations; yet all ethnic festivals and carnivals are quintessentially Malaysian. One of the best ways to enjoy sunny and harmonious Malaysia is to join us in our festivals and carnivals.

To celebrate this distinctly Malaysian heritage, a spectacular parade bearing the theme "Citrawarna Malaysia"meaning "Colours of Malaysia"will be held in Kuala Lumpur on the 26th of May 2002. The parade is an event that will showcase the rich legacy of arts, culture and tradition inherited from our forefathers in all its pomp, colour and splendour. The mesmerising event, which will be celebrated annually, combines the best of cultural and artistic manifestations of the states and ethnic groups of Malaysia. The parade, composed of various states and ethnic groups of Malaysia in colourful costumes, will feature traditional dances to the melodious strains of traditional music.

People of all races, tribes and ethnicity will come out in force to pay tribute to their country and their heritage. Underneath it all, the same spirit burns in all our hearts-of being Malaysian, of being united in diversity, offering a unique form of hospitality. This is truly Malaysia. Come celebrate together with us!
