At Tong Son Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on Samui,
on the Northeastern tip of the island (not far from the airport
and adjoining the 'honeymoon beaches' of Bo Phut and Mae Nam, with
busy Chaweng just down the road), the dream is rapidly becoming
reality. The ground is already cleared and neatly marked into plots,
while work is underway on the roads, the huge feature pool and all
the other essential inlay work.
On a gently rising slope away from the beach, a huge 33-rai area
contains what are essentially 3 projects in one. The Ocean View
development sits adjacent to the beach and hosts 15 houses, all
idyllically positioned in landscaped gardens. Adjoining this, the
Balinese
development provides breathtaking sea views, each of the houses
being walled in its own exclusive environment. Bordering this, the
50 houses of the Tropical Gardens are thoughtfully designed in a
neat layout that blends into the lush tropical surroundings.
This is where you become spoiled for choice. In each of the projects
there are further options of house sizes and styles:four choices
in Ocean View and Tropical Gardens, and two essential styles in
the
Balinese development. Decide again between two, three or four
bedrooms, a maid's room or/and a study. In fact, the larger houses
have these already. All come complete with essentials such as: a
cooker, washing-machine, fridge and an electronic safe (complete
with key-over-ride).
Bruce Sutherland smiles. "We want to provide something for
everybody here, ranging from the affordable to the super-executive. There
are 11 house-styles to choose from, all with recurring architectural
motives and themes to maintain the integrity of the overall concept. The
roof style and windows ref lect the Thai heritage, as does the repeated
use of pillars and column-supports, but the construction is 'Mediterranean
' and solid, , with the shell being brick and stone. Buyers are
completely free to go further by tailoring their houses to their
own individual needs: adding an extra bedroom or a games room, or
having a larger balcony or a patio included, for example. "
Alan Sadd nods in agreement. "The interiors are fitted as
standard to the highest specifications. We've used stone, concrete, ceramics,
marble and terracotta throughout, with all the wood being hardwoods.
What we have tried to do from every angle is to look at it all from
the customer's point of view. For example, our contracts are
carefully written in plain, simple language that no one will have
trouble with. They are in English, German and French. Between us all, the
staff speak seven languages. We've been really careful to minimise
the effects that the construction has made to the local environment, by
retaining or replanting all the coconut, mango and cashew trees. "
He pauses thoughtfully. "A hidden bonus for the customers is
that there is no shadow finance or banks putting pressure on us. The
project is financed by existing funds so we have complete control
over every aspect. Several houses have now been sold and there is
a great deal of interest in what is one of the most prestigious
developments on Koh Samui and certainly one of the most beautiful. We
enjoy what we do and our aim is to have a professional, uncomplicated
and soft-sell approach. "
